"Development of protein products that promote consumer health"

Riga Dairy Combine AS, in cooperation with Latvian Food Competence Centre SIA under CFLA contract No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/2/24/A/CFLA/003 within the research direction "Increasing productivity through expanded R&D investment", is implementing research project JP-33 "Development of protein products that promote consumer health".

The aim of the research project is to fill a gap in the market and increase the company's market share with dairy products that have a higher protein content or a reduced sugar content, as well as with various flavour variations, some of which include sweeteners or acidophilic bacteria.

During the research process, the project implementation team will develop products by carrying out the following research activities: evaluation and preparation of raw and auxiliary materials for laboratory tests, laboratory research of the product production process and selection of starter cultures, evaluation of the physical-chemical and microbiological properties of the product, initial optimisation of the recipe and technological process, pilot-scale production and functional testing, optimisation and validation of the production process.

The total planned cost of the research project is EUR 366,284.04, including Recovery and Resilience Mechanism co-financing of EUR 159,234.32 in the form of a grant. Project implementation period: January–December 2026.
